This is the new commercial Cocoa Mill.
People in the bean-to-bar business are
asking for a cracker that is both adjustable and high performance.
The overall design has proven its durabilty in the demanding
application of grain milling.
Its crush promotes efficient winnowing. The particles are kept larger in the process of separating the nibs from the shell, which helps to reduce winnowing losses to levels below 10 percent by weight.
Alloy steel, work hardened gears are welded in to make the 7.5" (190 mm)
length roller assemblies long lasting and reliable.
Initially, the upper gap lightly cracks the whole cacao along the natural lines present in the bean.
Then the central chamber between the three rollers tumbles the pieces, loosening the husks from the nibs.
The lower gap can be finely set according to the needs of a particular variety and crop. The indexed adjusters conveniently turn through a range of nine positions, changing the gap 1/100" (.25 mm) with each click.
As shown in the picture, the mill comes without a base and hopper. Eight mounting screws and washers are provided. A crosspiece runs side to side internally holding the frames and rollers together, aiding in the proper setup.
This mill is sized to be mailed internationally in a single box.
A base and hopper are available in another of my listings.
